West Allotment Celtic vs West Auckland Town – 30/9/23

A disappointing day at the office for West Auckland, going down 4-0 against West Allotment Celtic.

The game began with an early chance for West Auckland Town in the 2nd minute when Hope’s cross from the left was expertly controlled by Walker in the box, but the keeper for West Allotment Celtic made a remarkable save to deny West an early lead.

West Allotment quickly responded with their own opportunity in the 4th minute when Mikel Thompson found himself in a promising position but ultimately scooped his shot over the crossbar.

The first quarter of the game saw both sides sharing possession and exchanging chances, with neither team able to break the deadlock. However, in the 37th minute, it was West Allotment who took the lead when Lucas Lowery found the back of the net after a fortuitous break of play.

As the first half continued, the hosts created another scoring opportunity, but a low strike fizzed wide, leaving the scoreline at 1-0 as the teams headed into half-time.

At the start of the second half, West Auckland Town came out with renewed energy, and in the 48th minute, Wood set up Scott, whose strike was blocked on the line, narrowly avoiding an equaliser.

However, West Allotment Celtic extended their lead in the 52nd minute when Jake Forster found the back of the net. The home side continued their dominance in the 55th minute when Kyle Cockburn broke free and added another goal, making it 3-0 in favour of West Allotment.

Despite the deficit, West Auckland Town did not give up and continued to press forward. In the 60th minute, Nicholson chipped the ball back across the box after Hope’s cross, but Wood’s header was well held by the West Allotment goalkeeper.

West Auckland Town had their chances to get on the scoresheet, with Nicholson again breaking forward in the 70th minute, only to be denied by a close-range save from the West Allotment keeper.

Substitutions were made by both teams in the 73rd minute, bringing fresh legs onto the pitch. Substitute Blinco set up Charlie Wood in the 79th minute, but Wood’s shot narrowly missed the target.

In the 81st minute of the game, West Allotment Celtic added one more goal to seal their victory, with Kyle Cockburn finding the net once again to make it 4-0.

Final Score: West Allotment Celtic 4 – 0 West Auckland Town.
